Lost & Found
It happens, one minute he’s with you, and the next minute gone. Or maybe you have stumbled across a stray dog and need help finding its owner. Following these steps will help you get him home safe and sound.
Whether you have lost your pet or found a stray animal, please do the following:
- Contact all of the local shelters and submit a lost/found animal report. Continue checking back to see if any strays brought in match your pet’s description.
- Take photos and post flyers around the neighborhood of your missing pet or of the found pet. Ask neighbors, children, the postal carrier, etc. if they spotted the lost pet or know its owner.
- If you have lost your pet, sometimes offering a reward will help.
- Post a classified listing online or in the local paper & check the classifieds daily for other similar postings of missing or found animals.
- Contact local veterinarians and emergency hospitals.
- Don’t give up. It may take a few days or a few weeks for a frightened animal to find its way home or to approach a person who can help.
