The Farm Experience
By forming attachments and relationships with the animals at Forget Me Not Farm, children learn about appropriate physical and emotional boundary setting. Many of these children have never experienced positive physical contact and begin to learn that all living things have inherent value. Animals stimulate the children’s curiosity, watchfulness, wonder and admiration. A child is shown how to lovingly and gently care for an animal, nurture a plant in the garden and grow as an individual by learning from others. In this therapeutic setting, children learn the benefits of the human-animal and human-human relationship.
