Annual vaccinations are important for your pet’s overall health to protect them against contagious viruses and deadly diseases. Sonoma County requires every dog to have a rabies vaccination in order to obtain a license. You can make an appointment for your pet at our hospital just for vaccines, which are $7 & up.
Microchipping
Microchipping your pet can be a lifesaver when your animal goes missing. A tiny chip (about the size of a grain of rice) is inserted under the skin usually at the top of the neck area – a very, quick, simple and relatively painless procedure (just like a shot). The chip is barcoded with a number that can be detected using a microchip scanner. Every shelter in the United States and many across the world use these scanners and many veterinarians do too. If a chip is found, the number is input into an online database which provides the owner’s contact information. The owner can then be contacted and reunited with their loved one. Combined with a collar and tag, this is one of the most effective methods to reunite owners with their lost or stolen pets.
