Paws to Shop Retail & Merchandising
Help adopters and shoppers shop for pet accessories and merchandise in our volunteer-operated pet supply store. Shifts are in 3 hour increments any day of the week between 12pm – 3pm or 3pm - 6pm. All volunteers receive in-store discounts too.
Dog Walkers
Help train, walk and socialize our shelter dogs with a professional trainer. Must be able to handle medium to large sized dogs.
Humane Education Teachers & Docents
If you like spending time with children and animals, we need you to be a part of our Humane Education team, teaching compassion, safety, responsibility and respect for all animals. Help assist with our school programs, summer camps or group tours.
Cat Cuddlers
Socialize, groom and provide individual attention to our adoptable cats. Must have some knowledge about cats and their behavior.
Small Animal Handlers
Provide our small animals with the attention they need to keep them socialized and friendly. Animals may include rabbits, guinea pigs and rodents. Must have some knowledge of small animals.
Grooming Assistants
Assist our groomer with bathing & grooming our shelter animals and client animals. Must be able to handle both cats & dogs.
Veterinary Assistants
Assist our medical staff in caring for shelter animals. Volunteers may participate in a variety of activities such as examining animals, administering medications and assisting with surgical procedures. Should have some veterinary medical experience or an interest in veterinary medicine.
Office Assistants
Provide assistance in our shelter or administrative offices. Duties may include providing information on adoptable animals, answering phones, filing and other administrative tasks.
Fundraising & Event Assistants
Volunteers participate in a variety of events such as staffing information tables at fairs and other public events, walking in parades, assisting with outreach programs and numerous other activities throughout the year. Requires knowledge of the Humane Society, its mission and its programs.
Foster Care Parents
Through our foster care program, volunteers raise and nurture infant kittens or puppies, and/or adult cats and dogs in their home until they can be placed in our adoption program. Must have some knowledge of animals and their care, a safe and secure indoor location, and enough time to feed, clean and socialize the animals in their care. Food, supplies, and medications will be provided. Download a Foster Parent Application now. Interested applicants should also fill out our Release Form & Foster Care Contract.
Pet Assisted Therapy
Through the Pet Assisted Therapy (PAT) program, volunteers take their companion dogs to visit residents at nursing facilities and convalescent homes in our community. Requires two visits to an assigned care facility each month. Companion dogs must pass a Canine Good Citizens test and have a health certificate from their veterinarian to participate.
Tailwaggin’ Mobile Adoptions
Assist staff in taking adoptable animals in our Tail Waggin’ adoption unit out to various locations in our community. Help with the animals and the adoption process. Must be available five hours a month (a total of two shifts) and able to work both with animals and the public.
Forget Me Not Farm
Through the Forget Me Not Farm, volunteers work with at-risk children as part of their therapy program in our special farm and garden setting. They help children care for and nurture both plants and animals. Position requires participation in training programs and authorization to work with children.
Kennel Technician
Assist staff with cleaning, feeding and caring for animals being sheltered and waiting for adoption. You'll be rewarded with tail wags, hugging paws and gentle purring from our animal residents.
Dog Bather
Help pamper our shelter dogs with a sudsy bath and basic grooming. Dog bathers are often thanked with lots of kisses from our canine friends, and sometimes soaked with a good shake. Training provided.
Hospital Receptionist
Help answer phones and provide customer service in our state-of-the-art veterinary hospital. Learn about basic veterinary care and assist with making appointments for pet owners.
Graphic Design
Design mailings, flyers, brochures, posters & other marketing collateral pieces.Post events on various community websites & Facebook. Help photograph animals & write compelling bios.
